How to Optimise Your Shopify Product Pages for More Sales
(Even if you’re just starting)
Your Shopify product page isn’t just a place to list details. It’s where most people decide to buy or bounce.
Whether you're a beauty brand in Liverpool or a lifestyle store shipping from Wetherill Park, optimising your product pages is one of the easiest ways to improve conversion without driving more traffic.
Here’s what we recommend (and implement) for every Shopify site we build.
1. Write Product Titles That Are Clear + Searchable
Use plain language: think “Long Sleeve Linen Shirt - Sand” instead of “Weekend Dreamer.” Include keywords people type (colour, style, material, etc.)
Bonus tip: Add SEO-friendly handles in the Shopify backend like /linen-shirt-sand-women.
2. Use High-Quality Photos (and Show More Than One)
People want to see what they’re buying on someone, from the side, and zoomed in.
Use:
- Multiple angles
- Clean backgrounds
- Real-life or model photos
- Consistent sizing across all images
3. Write Descriptions That Sell
Think:
- Who’s it for?
- What problem does it solve?
- What’s unique about it?
Break text into dot points for easy scanning. Highlight materials, sizing, use cases, and shipping info.
4. Add Social Proof + Reviews
If people love it, show it! Use Shopify’s built-in review tools or apps like Judge.me or Loox. Bonus points for customer photos.
5. Highlight Urgency or Scarcity
Phrases like:
- “Only 3 left”
- “Best seller”
-
“New in”
Help push people to act without being pushy.
6. Upsell with Complementary Products
Think “Complete the look” or “Customers also bought.”
This improves average order value and gives people more reasons to stay.
Shopify makes it easy to launch, but product page optimisation is what makes your store profitable.
